On Friday 30th March 2012, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa conducted the Service of the Akathist Hymn and preached the homily at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria.
Prior to the end of the prayer synaxis at which the Honourable Consul General of Greece in Alerxandria, Mr Christos Kapodistrias, theStudents of the Patriarchal Academy of Alexandria dn many faithful were present, His Beatitude gave the Hegumen of the Holy Monastery, Archimandrite Meletios Koumanis, two silver reliquaries, which were made in Cyprus, and paid for by His Eminence Athanasios of Kyrene, Exarch of the Ancient Patriarchate in Moscow, for the purpose of preserving in them holy relics of the Holy Patriarchs of Alexandria, Ioakeim Panis (1487-1567) and Kyrillos Loukaris (1601 – 1620).
