On Monday 11th November 2019, great festive and Patriarchal Vespers for the commemoration of our Holy Father among the Saints John the Merciful, Archbishop of Alexandria Patron Saint and Protector of Limassol, at the Church of the same name, was celebrated with proper dignity and honour. The Clergy and Laity, with psalms, hymns and spiritual odes honoured John, the imitator of Christ the Master.

The Festive Vespers was officiated by His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria, concelebrated with Their Eminences Makarios Metropolitan of Kenya, George Metropolitan of Guinea, Athanasios Metropolitan of Limassol and Their Graces Nikodimos Bishop of Nitria, Patriarchal Exarch in Cyprus and Nicholas Bishop of Amathous.

Many Priests and Deacons from our Metropolis participated as did many faithful. Present also was the Mayor of Limassol Nikos Nikolaides.

The “Romanos the Melodist” Choir of our Metropolis sang the hymns. Following the end of Vespers, a procession with the holy icon and the relics of the Saint took place in adjacent roads of the Parish.
