On 17th November 2015, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, received a courtesy visit at the See of the Patriarchate by the new Ambassador of Cyprus to Cairo, Mr. Haris Moritsis.

The meeting took place in a particularly pleasant atmosphere, during which the Alexandrian Primate had the chance to express to the new Ambassador his gratitude to the Church of Cyprus, which in many ways supports the philanthropic and Missionary efforts of the Patriarchate, by way of contribution of many Hierarchs to the ministry of the Throne of St Mark, as well as through the creation of the Exarchate of the Patriarchate of Alexandria in Cyprus, where at the Centre of Cypriots from Abroad coming from Africa, a wealth of philanthropic activity is made possible in the broader region of Geri. Also stressed at the meeting was that the role of Cypriots is important, as the centre of the meeting of political and religious leaders for peace in the Middle East, and also the fact that the alliance between the three countries of Egypt, Cyprus and Greece is decisively important for peace and progress in the Eastern Mediterranean. On his part the Cypriot Ambassador briefed His Beatitude also on various topics of the Greek and Cypriot communities in Cairo.

On the same day, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, received with great joy at the Patriarchal See, a new African priest, Fr. Sylvester Kisitu who hails from Uganda and for the past ten years was studying Theology in Greece. After his studies he served as a priest in the Holy Metropolis of Rhodes beside His Eminence Kyrillos. Fr Sylvester was consecrated as Archimandrite by His Beatitude on the day of the inauguration of the Holy Church of St Gerasimos Palladas in Crete, on 11th July 2015. The new priest will serve as Parish Priest in the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St Savvas the Sanctifies in Alexandria. Uganda, as historically one of the first Metropolises of Africa, is the hope of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, as it has already contributed rich spiritual fruit.
