On 31st October 2012, His Beatitude Theodoros II Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa visited the oldest Parish of the city of Point Noire, that of the Ascension of the Lord in the poorest district of the railway workers. His Beatitude thanked them for the spontaneous welcome and addressed words of comfort and strength to them.

He then went to the Holy Church of Saint Fotini Equal to the Apostles which is under construction by donation of Fr. Kallistratos from the “Sotiros” Brotherhood of Theologians and the Holy Metropolis of Nea Smyrni; he also visited the clinic of St Luke the doctor which is also under construction, donated by Fr. Kyriakos Hatzidimou, which His Beatitude described as valuable for the treatment of the enormous death rate of mothers and children during childbirth.

His Beatitude then convened a Priests’ Synaxis following which he laid the foundation stone for the building of the polyclinic in the Nzassi region on 45 acres of land donated by a missionary society in Australia, initiated by Fr. Nicholas Marketos. There will also be a gynaecological and paediatrics clinic as well as an eco park.

His Beatitude then attended the Orthodox youth choir festival in the grounds of the construction of the Church of St Dimitrios.
