His Eminence Nikodimos Metropolitan of Memphis (Athanasios) Priaggelos, was born in Volos in 1967. He is a graduate of the Rizarios Ecclesiastical School and of the Theological Department of the University of Athens. In 1996 he was ordained Deacon and in 1997 Priest by the then Bishop of Diavleia and presently Metropolitan Damaskinos of Didymotihon. He served in the Holy Archdiocese of Athens from where he was seconded to the Holy Metropolis of Zimbabwe in 2003. From August 2005 he has been doing duty as Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo.
On 1st November 2006, he was elected as Bishop of Nitria, and ordained by His Beatitude Theodoros II Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa on 12th November 2006. On 23rd November 2013 he was elected Metropolitan of Memphis, keeping his position as Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo till November 2016..
