His Grace Markos (Theodosis) Bishop of Kisumu was born in Johannesburg, South Africa to Greek Cypriot parents. He completed his High School studies at an English School and Lyceum at the Greek School in Benoni, where he grew up and later became a Priest at the Holy Church of St Athanasios of the Hellenic Community in Benoni. By proposal of the late blessed Metropolitan Ioannis of Johannesburg and Pretoria he studied Theology at the Aristotelian University in Thessaloniki with a scholarship from the Ministry of Macedonia, and graduated in the year 2002. He was ordained Deacon by the late Blessed Patriarch Petros of Alexandria on 1st January 2001 and Priest in August of the same year by the former Metropolitan Seraphim of Johannesburg and Pretoria now Metropolitan of Zimbabwe and Angola. He was appointed private secretary of the Patriarchal Office by His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa in 2005. From 2007 he was appointed to the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos of the Johannesburg Metropolis and in 2008 to the Holy Church of St Athanasios. On 9th October 2019, by proposal of His Beatitude and regular voting of the Holy Synod he was elected Bishop of Kisumu and Western Kenya.
