    On 10th April 2008, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa received at the Patriarchal See Mrs. Salla, wife of the President of the Bank of Pireaus, who informed the Patriarch about the establishment of a Museum of Greek Cotton Growers of Egypt.

     On 11th April 2008, His Beatitude traveled to Cairo where he conducted the service of the Akathist Hymn and gave the homily at the Holy Church of the Archangels in Daher.

     The following day, 12th April 2008, His Beatitude visited the Greek Schools in the Egyptian Capital, in the area of Heliopolis .

     His Beatitude spoke to the more than 60 pupils of the Achillopoulios School of the Hellenic Community of Cairo, in the presence of the Educational Attaché of Northern Africa, Mr Andreas Karatzas and the Headmistress of the School, Mrs Sophia Lagara, of the importance of education at a young age, as well as of the unique contribution of parents and teachers in the process of education. He also mentioned the great missionary work of the Orthodox Church in Africa , where a significant part is played by the educational institutes which the Alexandrian Patriarchate has established for the children of the continent.

     Immediately thereafter he met the pupils of the Ambetios School (High School and Lyceum) to whom he spoke of the work of the Patriarchate especially in Egypt , emphasizing the completion of the Patriarchal Library of Alexandria. During this meeting, the Head of the School, Mr John Stavropoulos, thanked the Patriarch for his paternal concern for the youth.

     His Beatitude was accompanied at the above two visits by His Grace Nikodimos, Bishop of Nitria and Hierodeacon Arkadios.

     That same night, His Beatitude Theodoros II, accompanied by His Grace Bishop Nikodimos, went to the Society of the Hellenic Past Students of Ambetios School, where the Chairlady Mrs Villy Politis and the members of the Executive Committee hosted a dinner in his honour. In welcoming His Beatitude the Chairlady expressed her gratitude for his presence, while His Beatitude expressed his joy and contentment on the renovations of the building, as well as on the staffing of the Society with young members who will contribute to the maintenance of Egyptian Hellenism.
