On 12th March 2015,  His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa received at the Patriarchal See a courtesy visit from the new Governor of Alexandria Dr. Hani El Mesiri, in the presence of His Grace Meletios Bishop of Naukratis and of the Honourable Consul General of Greece in Alexandria Mr. Christos Kapodistrias.  

His Beatitude wished the Governor a productive tenure on the undertaking of his duties in the Great City, briefed him on the work of the Patriarchate in Egypt and Africa and assured him of the unreserved support of the Patriarchate in every initiative taken for the benefit of the citizens.
 

In his turn the Governor briefed His Beatitude on the visions he has, for Alexandria to become the cultural centre of the country and that it develops culturally. Also discussed was the issue of the re-activation of enterprise by the Greeks Egyptians in the city and the contribution by His Beatitude, so that the religious destinations of the Patriarchate may be developed in a broader effort of touristic promotion of Alexandria.

n conclusion His Beatitude showed the new Governor the museum areas of the Greco-Roman reservoirs, the Patriarchal reliquary and the famous Library, and gave him an invitation to the inauguration functions of the Rotunda of St George Old Cairo this coming April.
