On 30th August 2013, by Venerable Order of His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, the tonsure of a the candidate Nikolaos Korovesis, who received the name Raphael, took place in the Holy Chapel of Saints Theodori within the Patriarchal See, before the Dismissal of Vespers, by His Eminence Gabriel Metropolitan of Leontopolis, Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, in the presence of the Hegumen of the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St Savvas the Sanctified, Archimandrite Meletios Koumanis and the clergy of the Patriarchate.
The following day 31st August 2013, His Beatitude received in his office the newly-tonsure monk Raphael, who paid his respects, to whom he gave paternal blessings, prayers and advice
