His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, received today, Monday 19th October 2020 at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St George in Old Cairo, His Eminence Damianos, Archbishop of Sinai, Faran and Raitho.

During their most cordial meeting, His Beatitude, in the presence of His Eminence Nicodemus Metropolitan of Memphis, Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo expressed his joy for this visit.

During the meeting, various issues of common interest were discussed and the love and mutual respect between the Patriarchate of Alexandria and the Holy Monastery of St. Catherine on Mount Sinai was emphasized.

His Beatitude once again expressed his love and respect for the Head of the Holy Monastery of Saint Catherine and for the late Elder of Sinai and stated that many of his great predecessors, such as Joachim Pany (1487-1567), Sylvester (1567-1590) and others, were brothers and abbots of the Holy Monastery of the God-walked Mount Sinai.

For his part, His Eminence the Archbishop thanked His Beatitude for the warm hospitality, wished him a long and brilliant Patriarchal tenure for the glory of God and pledged to preserve and continue the good cooperation both in the High School and Lyceum of which he is President.

His Beatitude then inspected the ongoing works inside the old buildings of the Holy Monastery of St George, expressing his joy and just praise to Archimandrite Damaskinos Al Azrai.

Concluding his visit to Cairo, he visited the new spiritual center under construction in the courtyard of the Holy Church of St. Spyridon in Heluan, where he was briefed by Civil Engineers and the Construction Company on the progress of the work. This multi-storey building will house Cultural – Pastoral Activities and will significantly help the spiritual development of the people of the area.
