‘We are waiting for the day when the solution to the national problem of Cyprus will be found’

His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa made this declaration to the Cyprus News Agency, speaking from the particular hall of the Alexandrian Church, which is dedicated to his late Predecessor Petros Vii and the Island of Cyprus, with the Cypriot flag dominant in this museum area.

“As the Patriarchate of Alexandria, we pray that the blessed people of Cyprus will find their deliverance”, added the Alexandrian Primate, doing a Trisagion on this day, the 45th dark anniversary of the Turkish invasion, in the Patriarchal chapel, for all those who lost their lives during those tragic days for our nation, in 1974.

‘We support the tireless efforts of the Cypriot people to find the coveted solution in the context of international law and UN resolutions.’

‘Our wish is close to all the Cypriots, inside and outside of the Cyprus, who support our missionary work. And we, gratefully, support their effort, our own national effort, to bring justice to the Cyprus problem,’ concluded Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria.
