On the 14th of May 2019, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, accompanied by His Eminence Nikodemos of Memphis, Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo, was warmly welcomed by His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Mr. Sameh Shoukry.

During the meeting which took place in a very cordial atmosphere, His Beatitude wished His Excellency the Minister for the feast of Ramadhan.

His Beautitude the Patriarch briefed the Minister about the important social, philanthropic and spiritual work done by the Ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria in Egypt and throughout Africa, as well as regarding his imminent journeyto Tanzania. He particularly expressed his gratitude to the Ambassadors of Egypt who are always present at every missionary journey.

His Beautitude requested that His Excellency Minister Mr. Shoukry to convey his gratitude to His Excellency the President of Egypt, Mr. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, stressing that we all need to contribute dynamically to the peaceful co-existence of people and cultures in the peaceful region of the Mediterranean.

They continued to discuss the guarantee of the Title Deeds of the immovable property of the Patriarchate. It is to be noted that special mention was made regarding the voting on the Legislature by Parliament regarding the family rights of Christians.

The Minister welcomed the His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria, expressing his appreciation of the person of His Beautitude and added that the Government support of the work of the Alexandrian Church will continue.
