On 3rd August, Theodoros II Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa met with the Rector of the University of Crete, Professor George M. Rector’s Office.

The Rector welcomed the Primate of Alexandria, stating that it is "a great honor for the Foundation to welcome today a distinguished figure of Hellenism and ambassador of Greece, to an entire continent."

During their meeting, they had the opportunity to exchange views on the diverse activity of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate on the African continent, as well as on the possibilities of its cooperation with the University of Crete.

Specifically, Theodoros II of Alexandria expressed his admiration for the University of Crete and referred in detail to the various humanitarian, cultural, social and educational activities carried out by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate.

In particular, he expressed his desire to implement in cooperation with the University of Crete and in general with the Greek Higher Education Institutions, actions that will concern the education of the young people of the African continent, in various fields, to become tomorrow's ambassadors of Hellenism.

For his part, the Rector of the University of Crete expressed his admiration and full support for the great work done by the Primate of the Orthodox Church in Africa, which is known for its various activities. Finally, he stated that it would be a special honor and joy for the University of Crete to have a closer cooperation with the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in the future.
