On 26 October 2014, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa sent a letter to the President of Egypt, Mr. Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, expressing his genuine condolences for the 33 soldiers, victims of the terror attack on the Sinai Peninsula, giving full support to the struggle of the Egyptian State against terrorism.  Below is the full text of the letter:

To His Excellency Abdel Fattah Said Hussein Khalil el-Sisi, President of Egypt
Your Excellency,
          Through the present Patriarchal Letter, we would like to extend to Υour Most Honorable Person and to the Government of our most beloved Egypt our deepest condolences for the innocent Egyptian soldiers that have fallen victims to the atrocious and appalling terrorist attack in the Sinai Peninsula.
          At this difficult and sad moment for the Egyptian Nation, we would like to reiterate our unconditional commitment to the national unity, and our unreserved confidence in the harmonious coexistence of all the Egyptian citizens, that You personally guarantee for the welfare and prosperity of Egypt. We stand by Your side in Your effort to eradicate the social disease of terrorism, to defend the territorial integrity of Egypt, and to avert any external or internal attempt to derail the national effort towards prosperity.
           Fervently praying to the All Mighty and Most Merciful God to protect and save Egypt from any harm, we wish Your Excellency to guide the Egyptian people far from the regional turbulence to the safe haven of peace in the name of God.
