On 18TH August 2010, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa welcomed the new Ambassador for Greece to Egypt, His Excellency Mr. Christodoulos Lazaris.

Firstly, His Excellency the Ambassador and his wife venerated at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St Savvas the Sanctified, where his Beatitude said short prayers and then guided them around the historic monastery, the reliquary and the Patriarchal Academy of Alexandria.

They then went on to the Patriarchal Mansion where His Beatitude expressed his joy at the presence of a valued diplomat in the Land of the Nile, one who has exceptional knowledge of ecclesiastical issues and a friend of many years standing.

During his visit, the Ambassador was guided around the Patriarchal Library and attended an official lunch hosted in his honour by His Beatitude in the Patriarchal Refectory.
