The first camp of the Arab Orthodox youth of Egypt, who came mainly from Cairo and other cities of the Nile and were hosted in the new hostels of the Holy Monastery, which were inaugurated last April, took place with the blessing of His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of ALexandria and All Africa at the Holy Monastery of St George in Old Cairo during the 2 days of August 4th – 6th.

During the camp, a conference on bioethics was held at the Patriarchal Center for Studies and Dialogue of the Holy Monastery, where the delegates studied the positions of the Church on vital issues such as suicide, abortion, blood donation, body organ donation.

On August 5, 2022, His Eminence Nicodemus Metropolitan of Memphis, Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo, officiated during the Divine Liturgy that was held in the Holy Chapel ofSt. Catherine, inside the Holy Monastery, after which he had an extensive meeting with the young people, addressed them with paternal words and conveyed to them the Paternal wishes and Patriarchal blessings of His Beatitude.

The above youth meeting was concluded with the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Holy Monastery on the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Saviour, served by the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of St George, the Very Reverend Archimandrite Fr. Damaskinos, attended by all the youth, their parents, heads of the Arabic speaking community and others.

The Very Reverend Archimandrite spoke about the importance of the continuous spiritual training of young people in general, who are the most dynamic part of the Ecclesiastical Body and expressed the unfailing paternal interest of His Beatitude in the Orthodox youth in Egypt and the rest of Africa, which is the sure future of the Second Throne Church of Alexandria.
