On 17th September 2018, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, participated as an invited guest of the Governor, in the ceremony of handing over and acceptance at the Governor’s Mansion of the Great City of Alexandria, with the participation of the Consuls General of the City, eminent businessmen and the military leaders.
The Alexandrian Primate thanked the departing Governor of the city, Dr Mohamed Soultan, for the significant role he played in Alexandria, applying the vision of the His Excellency the President of the Arabic Republic of Egypt Mr. Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, for a strong Egypt. He also expressed his gratitude for the support in the solution of long-standing issues concerning the Patriarchate of Alexandria, and awarded him the medal of the “Commander of the Lion of the Throne”.
Immediately afterwards, the Patriarch congratulated the ne governor of the Great City, Professor Dr Abdel Aziz, on his new duties, wishing hi great success in his work and giving him a commemorative gift.
