Today, September 9 2021, in the context of his official visit to Cyprus, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, had a cordial meeting with His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis, during which they discussed all issues concerning the Patriarchate of Alexandria in Africa and its multifaceted activity.

His Beatitude was briefed by His Excellency the Minister regarding the opening of the Embassy of Cyprus in Addis Ababa and the contribution of the Throne of Alexandria to the temporary housing of the Embassy through the local Metropolitan Daniel of Aksum.

For his part, the Primate of Alexandria thanked the Minister for his continuous and practical support to the work of the Patriarchate, such as the recent granting of scholarships to African students, who will be in Cyprus to learn obstetrics in order to directly support the health sector in the areas from which they originate.

Finally, after congratulating His Beatitude on the important philanthropic and missionary work of the Patriarchate throughout Africa, His Excellency the Minister reiterated Cyprus' firm support of the work of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and their direct cooperation in order to fulfill its noble mission.

On the same day, His Beatitude accompanied by his entourage, visited the Theological Academy of the Archdiocese of Cyprus, where they were welcomed by the Director of the School Protopresbyter Kyprianos Kountouris, with whom the Patriarch had a private meeting.

The Director of the School spoke about the operation of the School, the services it offers to the students and the work that is performed in this university level Theological Institution.

Afterwards, they exchanged views on the operation of the Theological Academy of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, which is being established and which will be located in the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St George in old Cairo.

On his part, the Patriarch of Alexandria thanked the Director for the welcome and the tour of the Academy and expressed his satisfaction for the perfect organization of one of the many works of Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus.
