On 14th November 2017, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa awarded the “Commander of the Lion of Alexandria” to His Excellency the Consul General of Lebanon in Alexandria, Mr. Oussama Khachab, for his total contribution to the Christians of the Middle East and his significant presence in the City of Alexandria.

Present at the function in honour of the Lebanese Consul General, were His Excellency the Governor of Alexandria Dr. Mohamed Sultan, Consuls General of ten countries in Alexandria (Greece, U.S.A., Russia, China, Palestine, Libya, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Italy), many businessmen and prominent figures from the Great City.

His Beatitude the Patriarch in his address, praise the person of His Excellency Mr. Khachab, saying that the presence of all those there, declares his loving character, his hard work in the performance of his duties, and his worthy representation of the beloved country of Lebanon in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Alexandrian Primate also prayed the God-blessed country of Lebanon would cope with and overcome the new challenges of the times, becoming united and strong for the benefit of the Lebanese people and the Middle East region in general.

Finally, addressing His Excellency the Governor of Alexandria, thanked through him His Excellency the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mr. Abdel Fatah al Sisi, expressing his gratitude for his valuable support and protection. In his reply to His Beatitude, His Excellency Mr. Khachab, praised the Alexandrian Primate, Theodoros II, who is dominant in the City of Alexandria, through his entire efforts and his great contribution to mankind, as well as for his thirteen-year productive Patriarchal tenure on the Throne of St Mark.

At the end of the event, His Beatitude had individual meetings with the ten Consuls General in Alexandria, who briefed him on matters concerning their countries. A reception and guided tour of the guests through the Patriarchal premises and the Patriarchate Museums followed.
