On 23rd September 2017, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa visited His Beatitude Patriarch Irenaios of Serbia at the Patriarchate, with whom he held official discussions on all the issues which have to do with the relations of the two Churches and their increase of co-operation in the future. The meeting took place in an atmosphere of love and mutual understanding.

After the discussions, the two Primates visited the adjacent Patriarchal Mansion and the imposing Museum of the Serbian Orthodox Church, where he was taken on a guided tour by His Beatitude Patriarch Irenaios.

They then went on to visit the ancient Acropolis of Belgrade (The Fortress of Belgrade) where the historic Church of St Paraskeve Epivatine is situated and whose miraculous Holy Relics were maintained for two hundred and fifty years. There, the two Primates looked down from high up, on to the Confluence of the two rivers, the Sava and the Danube, where the plains of the Pannonia meet the Balkans.

On the evening of the same day, the Alexandrian Primate officiated during the Service of the Resurrection Vespers and Orthros, at the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael in Belgrade, together with His Beatitude the Serbian Patriarch.
