Due to the recent destructive earthquakes which struck the areas of Elias and Achaias, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, sent the following Patriarchal letter to His Eminence Germanos of Elias and Olenis and His Eminence Chrysostomos of Patra:
“It is with great sadness and a broken heart that we approach you in spirit to express our wholehearted support and fraternal love at this time of suffering for your flock due to the recent earthquakes.
We fervently pray to the Almighty God to forbid any further destruction so that calm may prevail in the shaken souls of the people in these areas.
We are at your service for whatever assistance you wish and remain ready to offer whatever it is you may need “as brothers who are helped by brothers are as a strong city…” according to scripture.
We pray for strength and comfort from Jesus Christ and kiss Your Eminence with a holy kiss, remaining You brother in the Lord.
