On Sunday 14th October 2012 His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, conducted the Divine Liturgy in the newly-built Holy Cathedral of St Nicholas Kolwezi, together with His Grace Meletios Bishop of Katanga.
During the Eucharistic gathering which was attended by the Honourable Mrs. Cime Jinga Charlotte, Governor of the province of Katanga and many local officials, His Grace Meletios addressed His Beatitude saying: “…your presence Your Beatitude gave us strength, comforted us and supported us spiritually…”and turning to the faithful people he said in a loud voice “…our Father is among us……and we will have him always noetically with us as a blessing from God…”. In his reply His Beatitude said: “…I thank all the faithful people fro their enthusiastic welcome and I am proud in the Lord of their dedication to immaculate Orthodoxy…”.
He also congratulated His Grace Meletios Bishop of Katanga for the excellent organization of the Holy Diocese, which demonstrates the painstaking efforts and the continuous monitoring of all facets of the pastoral activities. A parish festive function followed and an exchange of commemorative gifts.
His Beatitude then attended a lunch with the youth, the teachers and the Commissioners of the Parishes of the Diocese.
