     On Friday 21st January 2011, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, travelled to the city of Mansoura in Egypt, where he conducted the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy for the first time nad preached the homily at the Holy Church of Ss Athanasios and Kyrillos, concelebrating together with His Eminence Elder Kallinikos of Pilousion and His Eminence Elder Nicholas of Ermopolis.

     Before the end of the Eucharistic gathering, which was attended by the Governor of the city Mr. Housieni, the Police Deputy Administrator Mr. Mohamed Houri and pilgrims from Cairo, Ismailia and other cities in Egypt, His Beatitude awarded the two remaining Greeks in the city, Mr. Anastasios Perrakis and Mr. Kyriakos Kyriakides, the Supreme Commander of the Archangel and the Cross of St Mark respectively, for their most significant contribution to the preservation and renovation of the Holy Churches of Mansoura. 

     His Beatitude then visited the Arabic-speaking Holy Church of St Nicholas and the Chapel of the Great Archangels in the cemetery. 

    In the afternoon of the same day, an official lunch was hosted in the building of the Hellenic Community of Mansoura, where His Beatitude blessed the Vasilopita, congratulating all who contributed to the successful hosting of the festivities.
