     On 28th October 2012 His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, conducted the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of St Nicholas of the Hellenic Community of Kinshasa, concelebrating with His Eminence Nikiphoros Archbishop of Central Africa and His Grace Meletios Bishop of Katanga, as well as the Doxology for the national anniversary 28th October.

     During his address, His Beatitude spoke about national independence, which was achieved by courageous spirit, bloody sacrifices, dedication and struggles, strengthening Greeks abroad and giving a message of hope and optimism for the difficult times that our beloved Greece is experiencing. Also, in the courtyard of the Church His Beatitude sang memorial prayers for the repose of the soul of the late Timotheos, Archbishop of Central Africa.

     Present at the Liturgical gathering were Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of the Orthodox Countries in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Mufti in the country, high-ranking officials and many Christian faithful.

     In the afternoon His Beatitude watched a school festive programme in at the Hellenic Community complex, during which the young pupils in a strong spirit of patriotism presented a theatrical show and sang songs and poems; an historic documentary about the epic 1940.
