On the 17th of February, the day of commemoration of the Holy Great Martyr Theodore of Tyre, His Beatitude the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa celebrates his Name Day. Theodore II, who from the first year of his ascension to the blessed, famous and historic Throne of the martyred Church of Mark the Apostle and Evangelist up until today, always celebrates with his spiritual children, the African Orthodox Christians.

So this year too, the Blessed Patriarch, being in Kenya, arrived at the Holy Church of Saint Raphael, Nicholas and Irene, in the Thogoto area of the Kikuyu province in Kenya.

His Beatitude was welcomed by the holy clergy of the Nairobi Metropolis and the people with shouts of joy and expressions of love for their spiritual father. Afterwards, in an atmosphere of solemnity and reverence, the Divine Liturgy for the Name Day of the Primate of Love was celebrated by the Patriarch and the concelebrating Hierarchs Ieronymos of Kampala, Innocent of Burundi and Rwanda, Daniel of Aksum, Neophytos of Eldoret, Sylvester of Jinja, Nektarios of Gulu and Panaretos of Nyeri.

Before the end of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Kampala on behalf of the Holy Synod conveyed wishes to His Beatitude and on behalf of His Eminence the Metropolitan of Nairobi and the Holy Clergy of the Holy Metropolis, the Hierarchal Vicar General Fr. John Karanja.
