On Saturday 11th June 2011, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa conducted memorial prayers at the Greek Cemetery in Cairo, according to the order of the Church, for the repose of the souls of the priests and lay people who have fallen asleep.

He then went to the tombs of the eternally remembered Patriarchs of Alexandria, in the catacombs of the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St George in Old Cairo, where he conducted an emotional prayer service for his predecessors who have fallen asleep.
