     On Saturday 6th June 2009, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, inaugurated yet another church, that of St Nektarios, in the Subukia area, a few kilometers outside of the town of Nakuru . It is a church “that shows the extent of our faith and also the love of the Alexandrian Patriarchate for a Saint of our Church who honoured the history of the missionary Church of St Mark, a Saint whom I personally love”, said His Beatitude in his address to the congregation.

     Present at the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy were Cypriot visitors among whom was Dr Eleni Demosthenous, who voluntarily offers her services to the children of Africa , giving the Patriarch the opportunity to thank her personally. His Beatitude also made honourable mention of the Cypriot donors of the chuho gave of their hearts for the church to be built and who, for reasonsthat they could not avoid, were not able to be present at the liturgy. “Please pass on the gratitude of our Church to our Cypriot brothers and sisters who contributed to the building of this church”, said His Beatitude to the local Metropolitan Makarios, who also prayed for the immediate solution of the national problem of the martyred island.

     The youth of the area then presented a programme of traditional dances. On the afternoon of the same day His Beatitude returned to the capital of Kenya , Nairobi .
