The Alexandrian Orthodox Christians of Egypt celebrated the Resurrection of the Lord with splendour at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation in the Great City of Alexandria.

His Most Holy Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa presided over the service of the Resurrection, while he served the Resurrection Divine Liturgy, conveying to all the joyful message, "Christ is Risen!".

Together with His Beatitude were the Chief Secretary Metropolitan Panteleimon of Naucratis and His Grace Nicodemus Bishop of Nilopolis.

The Primate of Alexandria, in his Resurrection Message, stressed the following:

"My Brothers and my dear children, the message of the life-giving Resurrection is not a simple expectation of the future, but a way of life, which starts even now, from this world here. . Our Church already calls us to live as resurrected people. It asks us to be crucified with Christ and to be resurrected with Him. To let go of the old man and live as new people, people of grace!"

In the leading celebration of Christianity in Alexandria, Greece was represented by the Consul General Mr. Athanasios Kotsionis, the Hellenic Community of Alexandria was represented by the First Vice President of EKA. Mr. Andreas Vafiadis. Also present were the captain of the Naval Association in Alexandria, Konstantinos Varouxis and the President of the Association of Greek Scientists "Ptolemy AD" and the Naval Club Mrs. Lilika Thlivitou.

On Pascha Sunday, April 24, 2022, the festive Vespers of the Resurrection was celebrated at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria.

His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, descended in procession from the Throne Hall of the Monastery, to the Holy Patriarchal Church of St Savvas, where he served the Vespers of Love, together with the Hierarchs of the Throne, His Eminence Metropolitan Panteleimon of Naucratis, His Grace Germanos Bishop of Tamiathus and His Grace Nicodemus Bishop of Nilopolis.

Also present were the Vice President of the Hellenic Community of Alexandria, Mr. Andreas Vafiadis and representatives of Greek associations from the Great City.

In a joyful atmosphere, the Holy Gospel was read by His beatitude the Patriarch in Greek, followed by the Hierarchs, the clergy and the laity, in various languages.

The Primate of Alexandria, after thanking the representatives of the Greek community, the representatives of the Greek state in Egypt and all the faithful for their presence, said: "My blessed children, I say to you, then, in a stentorian voice: Rejoice! Rejoice! because Hades was embittered and the power of the devil was destroyed. Rejoice! that through the Wood of the Cross the wood of disobedience is abolished. Rejoice that the unresolved curse becomes Joy without sorrow. Rejoice in the Risen Christ and let us all together cry out with our whole hearts: CHRIST IS RISEN!
