On July 23, 2023, the His Beatitude Theodoros II Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa was present and prayed during the Divine Liturgy, which was served in the Holy Monastery of Saint Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria by His Eminence Panteleimon, Metropolitan of Naucratis,  Chief Secretary of the Holy and Sacred Synod, who also spoke appropriately, after which His Beatitude presided over the holy memorial service of his late blessed spiritual father and predecessor, Patriarch Parthenios III of Alexandria, who fell asleep suddenly on the island of Amorgos on July 23, 1 996.

During his eulogy, His Beatitude referred to the enlightened personality of Patriarch Parthenios III, by whom he was consecrated a Hierarch as his Assistant Bishop, under the title of the once-glorious Diocese of Cyrene  (1990), to the personal and spiritual relationship he developed together, as well as to the experiences he gained accompanying this great Primate on his theological and other meetings and people he associated with around the world.

In conclusion His Beatitude the Patriarch congratulated His Eminence the Metropolitan of Naucratis for his homily about the late Primate of the Alexandrian Church, and also thanked the Head of the centuries-old Holy Monastery, His Eminence Metropolitan Germanos of Tamiathus and the Reverend Fathers for taking care of the sacred memorial, as well as the representatives of parish historical Associations and Brotherhoods for their presence.

This was followed by a reception of the congregation in the adjacent Guest Hall of the Monastery, during which His Beatitude awarded pectoral crosses to the two Parish Priests of the Monastery from Africa, the Very Reverend Archimandrites Theodoros and Christophoros, while announcing the appointment of Mr. Dimitrios Kalomirakis as scientific associate of the Patriarchate, responsible for the Patriarchal Library of Alexandria.
