On 13th April 2010, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa warmly welcomed His Eminence Archbishop Leon of Karelia and All Finland to the centuries-old Holy Monastery of St George in Old Cairo.

Immediately following the visit to the Church of the Holy Monastery, His Beatitude thanked His Eminence for his contribution to the missionary work in Africa, especially the Holy Metropolis of Kenya.

His Eminence expressed his great joy for this meeting, emphasizing that the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Finland will continue to support the productive missionary effort of the ancient Patriarchate. He also invited His Beatitude to pay an official visit to the Church of Finland.

The two Primates then went to conduct a Trisagion at the tomb of the late Patriarch Petros VII, and then were taken on a conducted tour of the Monastery and its famour catacombs.
