     On 15th October 2012 His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa was driven to the Parish Community of St Dimitrios, a mining community where the large copper mines of Kolwezi are found.

     During the welcome for His Beatitude, His Grace Meletios Bishop of Katanga, expressed the respect and joy of the members of the oldest Parish Community, which was established by the Orthodox families of the mine workers, emphasizing particularly the contribution of the schools of the Parish in the promotion of the educational and spiritual progress of the residents of the broader region.

     His Beatitude thanked everyone for the warm welcome, stressed the ceaseless care of the Patriarchate for the improvement of the conditions of existence of our indigenous brothers and sisters and emphasized the importance of the joining of spiritual training in Christ with knowledge and education in African countries.
