On Monday 26th May 2008 His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa accompanied by His Eminence Sergios of Good Hope and His Grace Theodoros of Mozambique , visited the city of Pietermaitzburg in South Africa , where the Missionary Centre of the Holy Metropolis is situated.

     During his stay in the city, His Beatitude met with members of the Hellenic Community under the Chairman Mr Haralambos Liasidis, as  well as the Consul General of Greece in Durban Mr. Christos Zacharopoulos.

     Later, His Beatitude traveled to the Missionary Centre of the Local Church where he was warmly welcomed by the Parish Priest of the Churches of the Holy Trinity and St Nicholas in Durban Archimandrite Chrysostomos Efstratiou, and the youth of the Mission who sang hymns in the local dialect during the Doxology as well as traditional songs. A lunch was then held in honour of His Beatitude.

     On the evening of the same day His Beatitude attended a dinner held in his honour at the home of Father Chrysostomos. The dinner was attended also by HiS Eminence Sergios, His Grace Theodoros, clergy, the Consul General Mr Zacharopoulos, the Chairman of the Hellenic Community of Durban as well as Messrs Savvas Stylianou and Nicholas Kritikos.
