     Following the end of the meeting between the Venerable Primates of the Churches of Alexandria, Jerusalem and Cyprus with His Excellency the President of the European Council Mr Herman van Rompuy, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, accompanied by His Grace Porphyrios Bishop of Neapolis, Director of the Office of the Representative Office of the Church of Cyprus in the European Union and the Very Reverend Archimandrite Panteleimon Arathymos, Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod of the ancient Patriarchate, paid a courtesy call on 21st September 2012 to Her Excellency the Ambassador of Egypt in Belgium, Mrs. Fatma Al-Zahraa.

     During the meeting His Beatitude updated the Ambassador about the aim of his visit to the institutions of the European Union, his recent discussions with His Excellency the President of Egypt Mr. Mohamed Morsi, as well as the general work of the Alexandrian Church in Africa.

     Mrs. A-Zahraa called the presence of the Primate of the Throne of St Mark to the Embassy of Egypt in the Belgian capital an honour, expressed her appreciation for the presence and ongoing activities of the Patriarchate internationally and expressed her wish to visit the Patriarchal See in Alexandria.

     His Beatitude then went on to attend an official lunch together with His Beatitude Theophilos III of Jerusalem which was hosted at the Representative Offices of the Church of Cyprus in the European Union by His Beatitude Chrysostomos II, Archbishop of Cyprus.

     Thereafter His Beatitude the Patriarch of Alexandria together with his entourage departed from Brussels for Cairo, and were seen off at the international airport by His Eminence Panteleimon Metropolitan of Belgium, His Grace Maximos Bishop of Evmenia and His Grace Porphyrios Bishop of Neapolis, as well as His Excellency Mr. Adel Ibrahim, Minister Plenipotentiary, member of the Egyptian Diplomatic mission in Belgium.
