     On the afternoon of 2nd September 2011, His Beatitude Theodoros II Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa visited the Consul General of Egypt in Constantinople, Mrs Wafaa Elhadidy. The Consul General and staff at the Consulate of Egypt gave His Beatitude a warm welcome at their newly renovated C0nsulate, which was once the home of the mother of the great Khalif.

     His Beatitude thanked the Consul General for the warm welcome and the hospitality and for all that Egypt contributes to the Patriarchate and emphasized the peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims in the country. He spoke of the work done and contribution made by the Patriarchate in Africa and of the renovation works in Alexandria and Cairo.

     In turn the Consul General expressed her joy and honour in welcoming the Alexandrian Primate to the Consulate, and emphasized how important it is for Egypt to be hosting the See of the Orthodox Church of Africa and informed him of the political developments in Egypt.

     His Beatitude was then taken on a condaucted tour of the Consulate and gave a commemorative gift to Mrs Elhadidy as a remembrance of his visit and as a blessing.
