    His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa will pay a pastoral and missionary visit to Ghana from the 25th June 2008. This year the diocese completes its 25th year of existence and service.

    His Beatitude will be welcomed on 25th June 2008 at the Holy Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Saviour in Accra , where the inauguration of the new buildings of the Seminary “St Basil the Great” and the orphanage will take place.

    The highlight of the visit will be the meeting between His Beatitude and the President of Ghana, Mr. John Kufuor on the morning of Thursday.

    Another important meeting will be that between His Beatitude and the two tribal leaders in Larteh, where the new Church of the Apostle Peter and Paul and St Nektarios of Pentapolis will be inaugurated, on Sunday 29th June 2008. His Beatitude will return to Alexandria on the 2nd July 2008.

    The Holy Diocese of Ghana was established by Patriarchal and Synodal decree of the Patriarchate of Alexandria in September 1997. Its jurisdiction includes Ghana , the Ivory Coast , Sierra Leone , Senegal , Mali , Burkina Faso , Guinea , Guinea Bissau and Gambia . Its Hierarch from 2004 is His grace Damaskinos of Ghana.
