On the morning of 20th June 2022, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, visited the Commander of the National Guard, the renowned Mr. Democritus Zervakis, accompanied by the Patriarchal Vicar of Cyprus, His Grace Bishop Nicodemus of Nitria.

The focus of the discussion was the briefing on the missionary work of the Orthodox Church of Africa, as well as the recent concession of land to the Patriarchate of Alexandria, by His Excellency the President of Egypt Mr. Al Sisi, in the new administrative capital of Egypt.

Before the departure of the Patriarch, the Commander gave to His Beatitude an honorary plaque depicting their common birthplace Crete.

The Venerable Primate of the Church of Alexandria then went to the city of Larnaca, where he had a private meeting with the Most Holy Metropolitan Nectarios of Kition, with whom they decided to serve the Divine Liturgy in English once a month at the Church of St George in Larnaca for the spiritual needs of the English-speaking congregation from South Africa, as well as the systematic contribution to the missionary work in Africa under the coordination and responsibility of the Chief Secretary of Holy Metropolis of Kition, the Very Reverend Archimandrite Stylianos Stylianou.

Finally, on 21st June 2022 His Beatitude had a courtesy meeting with His Excellency Ioannis Papameletiou, Ambassador of Greece to Cyprus.
