   On 3rd October 2010 His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa officiated at the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Alexandria and at the Doxology for the completion of fifty years from the announcement of the Independence of Cyprus, together with His grace Bishop Gabriel of Mareotis, Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria and His Grace Bishop Gennadios, Secretary of the Holy Synod.

   Prior to the end of the doxology prayers, His Excellency Mr Constandinos Leontiou, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus in Egypt expressed the panegyric homily of the day, speaking of the struggles of the Cypriot nation, while His Beatitude, in his reply, prayed for the fulfilment of the aims of the nation.

   Present at the ceremony were His Excellency Mr. Christodoulos Lazaris, Ambassador of Greece in the Land of the Nile, the Honourable Mr. George Diakofotakis, Consul Genmeral of Greece in Alexandria, Mr. Haralambos Haralambisdes, Chairman of the Cypriot Brotherhood, representatives of the Hellenic Community of Alexandria, Chairmen of societies and associations, et al.

   At noon His Beatitude attended an official lunch, which was hosted by His Excellency the Ambassador of Cyprus at the Hellenic Naval Club of Alexandria.
