On 24th May 2022, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa attended an official lunch, which was hosted in Cairo in honor of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus Mr. Ioannis Kasoulidis by the Ambassador of Cyprus Mr. Homer Mavromatis, in the framework of his official visit to Egypt.

It was preceded by a private meeting between His Beatitude and the Minister, in which issues related to the new data of the energy policy of the Eastern Mediterranean countries were discussed.

In addition, the Patriarch presented to the Minister the activities of the Patriarchate in all the African countries, the decisive contribution of the Cypriot brothers and sisters in the Diaspora, as well as the pastoral care of the Hierarchs of the Throne for the Cypriot communities.

Finally, he expressed once again the gratitude of the Church of Alexandria to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Cyprus and to His Beatitude the Archbishop of Cyprus, as well as his Holy Synod, for the continuous and wholehearted support of the missionary, pastoral, humanitarian and national work in general on the African continent.

For his part, His Excellency Mr. Kasoulides stressed the unfailing understanding and assistance of the Republic of Cyprus in the sacrificial ministry to the suffering African fellow human being by the Second Throne Church.

It is noted that the official dinner was attended by His Excellency the Deputy Minister for European Affairs of Egypt Mr. Ihab Taalat Nasr, His Excellency the Ambassador of Greece Mr. Nikolaos Garilidis, His Excellency the Ambassador of the EU to Egypt Mr. Christian Berger, and other officials.
