On 16th October 2012 His Beatitude Theodoros II Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, accompanied by His Grace Meletios Bishop of Katanga, visited the Governor of the city of Lubumbashi, Honourable Mr. Katumbi Chapwe Moise, to whom he expressed gratitude for the support shown for the work of the Holy Diocese of Katanga. The Honourable Governor expressed his appreciation for the multilevel contribution of the local Church, and defind His Beatitude’s visit as a great honour and blessing for the local community, asking for a Patriarchal blessing for a personal matter.
His Beatitude then went to the place where the late missionary Fr Kosmas Grigoriatis passed away and conducted the Trisagion service for the repose of his beloved soul. He then visited the adjacent Parish of St Kosmas the Aetolian and inaugurated the new facilities of the school, donated by the Missionary Society “Agios Kosmas Aetolian” in Thessaloniki.
