     On 9th October 2012 His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa met in Cairo with His Excellency the Prime Minister of the Arabic Republic of Egypt Mr Hesam Kadil.

     During the meeting which was the first between the Primate of the Alexandrian Church and the Prime Minister of Egypt for 66 years, His Beatitude wished His Excellency the Prime Minister a successful and productive tenure which he has undertaken for the benefit of the noble people of Egypt. He also told him of the general activities of the ancient Patriarchate in Africa and invited him visit the Patriarchal See in Alexandria.

     His Excellency Mr. Kadil accepted the invitation, praised the multifaceted contribution of the Second Throne Church to the suffering people of the African Continent, emphasizing particularly the importance of the ongoing drilling of well by the ecclesial Provinces of the Throne for the securing of drinking water, as he himself once was responsible for the management of the waters of the Nile.

     He also expressed his support of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate, which exists and works peacefully and ceaselessly in Egypt, since its inception, contributing through the actiie participation of His Beatitude – which His Excellency described as particularly significant – to the national Council for the promotion of peaceful co-existence of Christian and Muslim communities in the country.
