On 19th July 2011, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, met with His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister of the Greek Government and Minister of Finance Mr Evangelos Venizelos. The meeting took place in a warm atmosphere and among other things Hid Beatitude congratulated the Deputy Prime Minister on his new duties and wished him great success in this difficult task which he has undertaken; he made him aware of the progress of the missionary and humanistic efforts of the Patriarchate in Africa and the enormous contribution of the Patriarchate to the educational programmes of the African countries.
His Excellency Mr Venizelos, who has a good knowledge of the great efforts of the Patriarchate, congratulated His Beatitude on the multifaceted work of the Patriarchate and assured him that the Greek Government would always stand by his side.
