On Sunday 10th November 2013, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, was in Ismailia, See of the Holy Metropolis of Leontopolis, to officiate at the prayer functions in honour and memory of the Great Martyr St Minas the Wonderworker, Patron Saint of the canal city, in the Holy Metropolitan Church of the same name (NB the celebration was transferred due to special circumstances).

Participating in the Patriarchal Liturgy were the local Metropolitan, His Eminence Gabriel, Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, as well as His Grace Nikodimos Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo and His Grace Niphon, Hegumen of the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St George, Old Cairo. Pilgrims travelled to Ismailia from Port Said and from the districts of Heliopolis and Soubra in Cairo.

The piece of the relic of the honoured St Minas will always be a blessing of grace and eternal sanctification for the See of the Metropolis of Leontopolis, as it was placed in the Holy Metropolitan Church of the same name in an ornate reliquary, created and paid for by His Eminence Athanasios Metropolitan of Cyrene, His Beatitude’s Representative in Moscow.
