    On 4th December 2010 His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, officiated and preached the homily at the Great Vespers of the Holy Patriarchal Church of St Savvas the Sanctified , Patron Saint of Alexandria.

    On the 5th Decemebr His Beatitude conducted the Divine Liturgy at the above-named Church. The homily was preached by the Most Reverend Archimandrite Panteleimon Arathymos, Director of the Private Patriarchal Office.

     Prior to the end of the Eucharistic gathering, His Beatitude awarded the office of Teacher of the Gospel to the Very Reverend Archimandrite Narcissus Gammo, Dean of the Patriarchal Academy of Alexandria, “St Athanasios”. During his brief address, the Venerable Primate of the Alexandrian Church spoke of the productive service of Father Narcissus, as an “educator in Christ and teacher of both the African students of the Academy who in the future will serve as priests for their brothers and sisters, as well as of the Arabic speaking faithful of the Great City.

       A reception followed together with the inauguration of the Christmas Festival Market of the Lyceum of Greek Ladies of Alexandria, which is hosted in the grounds of the Patriarchal Monastery.

        Present at the Liturgical Prayers were The Honourable Consul General of Greece Mr. George Diakofotakis, representatives of Hellenic Societies and Associations, educators and the entire community.
