      On 1st March 2010, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa attended a lunch hosted in his honour by the Chairman of the Hellenic Community of Khartoum Mr. Xenophon Karapanayiotis and the members of the Council.

      The Chairman expressed the gratitude of everyone and in bidding His Beatitude a warm farewell he said: “Come to visit us again and often, as often as is possible here in Khartoum, so that you can give light, strength, hope, courage and prospect to our lives here”.

      The Venerable Primate of the Alexandrian Church thanked everyone for the warm welcome and hospitality and lifting his glass he wished harmony and peace for the Greeks of Sudan, so that in a climate of collaboration and love they can live their lives in Khartoum. 

COMPLETION OF HIS BEATITUDE’s VISIT TO THE HOLY METROPOLIS OF KHARTOUM

      On the evening of the same day His Beatitude departed from the International Airport in Khartoum for Cairo in Egypt. He was seen off by His Eminence Emmanuel Metropolitan of Khartoum, Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of Greece, Egypt and Russia Messrs. Christos Karapanos, Afifi Abdel-Wahab and Envarbik M. Fazeliyanov respectively, the Chairman of the Hellenic Community Mr. Xenophon Karapanayiotis, community dignitaries, teachers and pupils from the Greek schools etc.

      On his departure His Beatitude expressed his paternal satisfaction on the journey of his Orthodox children of the Church of Sudan as well as grateful thanks for the warm and rich welcome and hospitality.
