His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, having been briefed with grief about the tragic rail accident which took place last night in the region of Thessalia, sent a Patriarchal letter to His Beatitude Ieronymos II, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, expressing his condolences and support on this regrettable event.

Note that today, 1st March 2023, during the Vespral Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified gifts in the Patriarchal Monastery of St Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria, His Beatitude will pray for the repose of the souls of the victims, as well as for strength from above and comfort for their families.

Your Beatitude Ieronymos  Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, most dear and beloved brother and concelebrant in Christ of my Mediocrity, we  embrace Your honorable Beatitude in the Lord and address you exceedingly.
It is with grief that we were informed today about the rail accident which took place in Thessalia, which resulted in the horrifying death and injury to dozens of our fellow compatriots and we hasten through this our  fraternal Letter, to support Your  Beatitude. We comprehend the tragedy of the situation,  which is why from our See, sharing in Your pain, as well as that of the suffering reasonable flock of Greece, we express to You the sympathy and grief of the clergy and Christian plenitude of our Apostolic and Patriarchal Throne. Expressing again our feelings of grief and anguish for this enormous tragedy, as well as condolences for our suddenly departed brothers and sisters, we invoke on You and on Your spiritual children strength from above  comfort and great Grace of the Triune God.
We therefore give Your Beatitude a fraternal and holy embrace and remain in Christ’s love and all honor.
