 His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel of Aksum, arrived in the city in the Republic of Tanzania, in East Africa, today, Friday making a pastoral visit to the Holy Diocese of Arusha and Central Tanzania.

This is the second time that the Patriarch of Alexandria has visited the undisputed capital of the countries of East Africa. His Beatitude was received at the Arusha International Airport by the local Bishop of Arusha and Central Tanzania His Grace Agathonikos, His Grace Chrysostom Bishop of Bukoba and clergy of the Diocese.

An official welcome and Doxology followed at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Arusha, where the Patriarch spoke words of paternal love, referring once again to his vision for the course of Orthodoxy in Africa and especially in this region, while he blessed the local clergy and laity present, saying that these are the promising young people of Africa.

His Beatitude will remain in Arusha for a week, to bless the Orthodox flock of the Diocese, to hold meetings with political and state officials of the Region as well as to establish the new missionary infrastructures of the Diocese.
