His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, beseeched the Champion Leader to liberate the People from the global pandemic, while chanting the Oikos to the Most Holy Theotokos, during the service of the Akathist Hymn which he served today, Friday 16th April 2021, at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation in Alexandria, concelebrating with His Eminence Narcissus Metropolitan of Naucratis and Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria.

“O all-praised Mother, deliver your people from the pandemic”, said the Alexandrian Primate, emphasizing the fatigue felt by the people from the global pandemic.

In the presence of the Consul General of Greece in Alexandria Mr Atahanasios Kotsonis, the first Vice Chairman of the Hellenic Community of Alexandria Mr. Andreas Vafiades, the Chairlady of the Lyceum of Greek Ladies in Alexandria Mrs Aliki Antoniou and the Chairman of the Greek Chamber of Commerce Mr. Byron Vafiades, as well as many faithful, His Beatitude beseeched the All Holy Virgin to listen again this year to the pleas and sighs of the people.

"The icon of the Virgin Mary is adorned with flowers but also with the perseverance of the people in order to free the human race from the pandemic and to redeem it from the bondage of Baal", added the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Africa, emphasizing that we pray to the Champion Leader to give to God-walked Egypt, our tormented Cyprus and our blessed Greece, laurels of hope and peace and to intercede for the Greek Community of Alexandria and all the faithful of Africa.
