On 7th November 2007, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patrιarch of Alexandria and All Africa, received in the Patriarchal Offices the distinguished scholars Messrs Mohamed Awad, Professor of the Polytechnic of Alexandria, and Harry Tzala, Professor of Archaeology, with whom he discussed many issues regarding the creation and operation of the Patriarchal Sacristy in the basement of the Patriarchal Palace, where there is a large catacomb from the Ptolemaic era and which was used as a collection point for rainwater.

This exceptional area will be renovated according to the principles of modern museology, and it will become the Patriarchal Sacristy for the preservation of significant artifacts of ecclesiastical objects and which have been salvaged down the years of the Church of Alexandria.

In the afternoon of the same day, His Beatitude officiated at the Great Vespers of the Church of the Archangels in Ibrahimia, where he preached the divine word to the many people in the congregation. Present were the Consul General of Greece in Alexandria Mr George Diakofotakis and many community councillors.
