On 1st November 2007, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, returned to Alexandria. He was welcomed at the city’s airport by His Grace Bishop Gabriel, Patriarchal Vicar and Bishop of Mareotis.

On the same day, His Beatitude received in his office Archimandrite Isaak, Chancellor of the Holy Metropolis of Lemesos, who was accompanied by the Monk Tichon, as well as many pilgrims from the islands of Thyra and Amorgos in the Cyclades, led by Archimandrite Spyridon Denaxas, Hegumen of the Holy Monastery of the Theotokos of Hozoviotissa in Amorgos. It is to him that His Beatitude gave the Cross of St Mark for his many years of service to the monastery and hospitality extended during the summer months to the late Patriarch Parthenios III, right up until his passing on the island in July 1996.
