VISIT BY THE GENERAL SECRETARY OF INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC RELATIONS AND DEVELOPMENTAL CO-OPERATION OF THE GREEK MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS TO THE PATRIARCHATE OF ALEXANDRIA

     On 2nd February 2008, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, officiated at the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Church of St Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria , for the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord to the Temple .

     That same day he received at the Patriarchal palace the Honourable Mr Theodoros Sylakakis, General Secretary of International Economic Relations and developmental co-operation of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, accompanied by the Honourable Consul General of Greece in Alexandria Mr George Diakofotakis.

     During this meeting, which was attended by Mr. Mohamed Aouad, Professor of the University of Alexandria , issues reagarding the restoration works of the Monastery of St George in Old Cairo, were discussed, as was the organization of the NPO of the Patriarchal Throne, and the multifaceted missionary work of the ancient Patriarchate for the peoples of Africa .

     The General Secretary congratulated His Beatitude on his missionary and humanistic endeavours being developed by the Patriarchate of St Mark on the African Continent and expressed the undivided support of Greece of this.

     Following the meeting His Beatitude offered commemorative gifts and took Mr Skylakakis on a conducted tour of the patriarchal Palace.
